Stainless Nipples
Stainless steel nipples are used for threaded connection between industrial fittings and pipe fittings and are available in various grades, diameters and threads.
In its most basic form, the stainless nipple is a short threaded fitting with male threads at both ends for connecting other fittings. Generally speaking, there is a small threaded distance between the two threaded ends, depending on how far the fittings are to be fitted apart.
When there is no hollow tube between the two connecting ends, the part may be called a "closing nipple" or a "working nipple". In this case, the connected fittings are close together and only a very small part of the nipple can be seen externally.
Although some constructions require such a rigid fitting, the clamping of these nipples can be difficult, and the unwinding requires a tight hold of part of the thread area. This can damage it.
In cases where there is little space between the edges of the stainless steel nipple and it is threadless, this type of nipple is usually called a hexagonal nylon or a nylon with a hexagon as it has a hexagonal section in the middle.
It functions as a nut that can be fitted with a normal wrench, providing a greater mechanical advantage than a normal rounded pipe. The hexagonal or hexagonal stainless steel nipple, with a larger distance between the threaded ends, is called a "long hexagonal nipple".
For projects that require a change in tube size, you can buy a "reduction nipple". These nipples serve to move from a larger thread to a smaller one. Care must be taken when using these parts, as reducing pipe diameter may mean higher pressure and greater flow in the smaller pipe / fitting. Stainless reducing nipples often have a hexagonal center, albeit not always.
We also offer special stainless nipples called "hose nipples" for processes that require hose connection to a pipe. This nipple has a male threaded connection at one end and a hose end on the other end. Accordingly, the hose nipples may be equipotential and reductive depending on whether the hose is to be of the same size as the tubular connection or to be reduced.
A particular type of nipples are "weld nipples" which have a threaded connection at one end and a normal tube on the other. As the name suggests, this part is designed to be welded to pipelines, fittings or reservoirs. The unripe end of the weld nipples provides a larger area for the use of a solder or other welding material to make the bond stronger. The advantage of welding nipples is that, once welded, you can connect pipes or other fittings to the end of the thread much easier.
