In a common type of stuffing box, rings of braided fiber, known as shaft packing or gland packing, form a seal between the shaft and the stuffing box. A traditional variety of shaft packing comprises a square cross-section rope made of flax impregnated with wax and lubricants.
The gland packings are used to seal rotating or non-rotating shafts, however, in order to achieve the best results, the material for the packings should be carefully selected and should possess certain properties. We offer over 150 types of gland packings from stock!
To have a complete protective gland packing without leakage, follow the next guidelines:
- There should be no chemical reaction: the Seal of the gland should not react with the liquid, which must be sealed, as otherwise it will collapse, which will cause the outflow of liquid.
- Antiriction characteristics. If friction occurs, the gasket seal will cut off the sleeve of the shaft or shaft and may also burn due to constant overheating.
- Temperature Resistance: The gland packing should be resistant to the working temperature of the liquid at all costs.
