Polypropylene / PP

Polypropylene / PP is very chemically resistant material. Noticeable influence on it have only strong oxidizing agents - chlorosulfonic acid, fuming nitric acid, halogens, oleum.

Concentrated 58% sulfuric acid and a 30% hydrogen peroxide at room temperature are negligible for the polypropylene material. Prolonged contact with these reagents at 60 ° C and above causes degradation of Polypropylene.

Polypropylene in organic solvents at room temperature swells slightly. Above 100 ° C it is soluble in aromatic hydrocarbons such as benzene, toluene.

Compared to PE material, PP shows improved hardness particularly in the upper temperature range (up to +100 ° C). Notable are the high chemical resistance to many environments and good long term characteristics even at high temperatures.

Polypropylene / PP rods

Polypropylene / PP rods

Polypropylene rods / PP Polypropylene rods are made of tough, lightweight material with high impact resistance and good mechanical strength which can stand temperatures up to 100 С. Polypropylene rods have lower water absorption and are resistant to many acids, alkalis, and organic solvents. Rods made of Polypropylene also have good thermal and electrical insulation properties but become brittle at low temperatures. Polypropylene rods we offer are FDA approved and are e..

Polypropylene sheets / PP

Polypropylene sheets / PP

Polypropylene Sheets  have a polar structure that possesses a very high molecular mass. This makes Polypropylene PP Sheet highly resistant to chemicals and to aqueous solutions of salts, acids, and alkalis.  Polypropylene homopolymers have a high level of stiffness and toughness at room temperature. This together with the Polypropylene sheet capacity to repel water makes them a good choice for mechanical and structural applications. Advantages of the Polypropylene Sh..

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

What are the chemical resistance properties of Polypropylene (PP)?

Polypropylene (PP) is known for its excellent chemical resistance. It is significantly affected only by strong oxidizing agents such as chlorosulfonic acid, fuming nitric acid, halogens, and oleum. While concentrated sulfuric acid and hydrogen peroxide can cause negligible effects at room temperature, prolonged exposure at elevated temperatures (above 60 °C) can lead to degradation of the material.

How does Polypropylene behave in organic solvents?

At room temperature, Polypropylene will swell slightly when in contact with organic solvents. However, it becomes soluble in aromatic hydrocarbons, such as benzene and toluene, when temperatures exceed 100 °C. This characteristic is essential for applications where the material may encounter such conditions.

What are the available forms of Polypropylene products?

GTEEK offers a variety of Polypropylene sheets and Polypropylene rods. These products are suitable for various industrial applications due to their high durability and chemical resistance.
