Polyvinylidene fluoride / PVDF rods
are probably the most chemically resistant thermoplastic known in the world today, standing up to -30°С +150°С, which has a fairly good dimensional stability and good tribological characteristics. PVDF is a flame-retardant, self-extinguishing plastic with high density and excellent strength. It is inherent in the minimum impact strength at low temperatures.
PVDF rods are more durable in comparison with PTFE, despite a higher coefficient of friction. The main difference from other fluoropolymers is that it combines the PVDF rods have good mechanical, thermal, and electrical properties when exposed to chemicals.
As well as other fluoropolymers, PVDF racks to hydrolysis with very low ( "zero") moisture absorption. PVDF rods can be welded with special welding rods (postings) and PVDF, unlike PTFE.
KEY BENEFITS OF THE PVDF RODS:
- low weight
- low thermal conductivity
- high chemical corrosion resistance
- heat resistance
- mechanical strength and toughness
- PVDF has a high abrasion resistance
- resistant to most chemicals and solvents
- low permeability to most gases and liquids
- withstands exposure to harsh thermal and chemical conditions
- unaffected by long-term exposure to ultraviolet radiation
Applications of the PVDF rods:
Thanks to the good weldability the PVDF coated fiberglass or polyester fabric is the most popular polymer for the manufacture of chemically resistant protective lining tanks, pumping equipment, and valves in the water treatment and TPP stations, for the pumping of media with particles of abrasive or corrosive materials.
PVDF is used for:
- sealing parts (eg, sealing rings, bushings,
- laboratory glassware and not only in the Chemical Industry);
- electrical parts (insulators, contact rails, parts of plugs, connectors, electrical parts, etc.);
- anti-friction, resistant to aggressive chemical components and structural elements (sliding bushings, gears, roller, screw, etc.). T
- PVDF is most widely used in chemical engineering: body or parts of pump bodies for chemical products and petroleum products; parts of valves, flow meters, fittings, valves.
