Polybutylene Terephthalate / PBT
PBT (polybutylene terephthalate) - a very hard material, durable, wear-resistant and resistant to knocks and to the formation of thermoplastic cracks from the group of thermoplastic linear polyesters, which includes both (PET), and the related non-standard types (PET and RBT). Because of the similarity of PET and RBT, but the complexity of fiberglass reinforcement PET, PBT increasingly can be found as PBT modified with fiberglass 90% - also known as PBT GF.
PBT (polybutylene terephthalate) GF has remarkable qualities in a combination: high hardness and stiffness properties of stability over time, good heat resistance and excellent toughness. PBT has high dimensional stability, minimal thermal expansion and low water absorption specific to the polymer that allows high-precision parts made of polybutylene terephthalate to be produced. PBT GF 30 has excellent electrical insulation properties and good sliding properties.
Dimensional stability of PBT (polybutylene terephthalate) GF 30 is higher than that of the polyamide due to the low water absorption, making PBT excellent solution for applications in electrical engineering.
PBT GF 30 is used mainly for the manufacture of high-quality and responsible technical details: in electrical engineering and electronics, the automotive industry and in the production of household appliances, precision mechanics and mechanical engineering.
Details of PBT (polybutylene terephthalate) and PET are used where necessary to avoid moisture absorption and where the combination of form stability is needed together with strength. Lower moisture absorption and thermal expansion than that of the Polyamide and POM, make PBT ideally suited for dimensional stability, precise detail with minimal dependence on environmental influences.
