Mechanical Floats for Float Switches

A float with an integrated magnet moves with the filling level of the medium along a sliding-tube in which one or more reed contacts are firmly cast in position. The variation of the filling level causes the float with the magnets to undergo a buoyancy/downthrust. If the level is consistent with the position of the reed contacts then the reed contact is either opened or closed depending on the application. As a result, level monitoring is guaranteed.

A float is a hollow body that swims on top of the medium because of its density. The density – the relationship of the mass to the volume – can be adjusted with the help of the wall thickness and the diameter depending on the pressure load that is required of the respective medium. For aggressive media a version out of titanium or NiMo alloy can be selected instead of the standard stainless steel version.  The surface is available in blank, pickled, or passivated form. Hygienic applications can use the electrolytically-polished surface. Depending on the type of float switch we offer different mounting methods at the float.

Features:

  • Mechanical spherical, cylinder, or special floats

  • Material: stainless steel 1.4571, titanium, with NiMo alloy

  • Surfaces: blank, pickled, electrolytically polished, passivated

  • Flexibility in the mounting method (e.g. mounting bracket with hole, etc.) and the magnet position

  • Applicable in almost all media

  • For pressures greater than 100 bars

FAQ

What materials are the mechanical floats made from?
The mechanical floats are typically made from durable plastics or stainless steel, ensuring resistance to corrosion and wear.
What is the operational range for these float switches?
The operational range varies based on the specific model, but they are designed to function effectively in various liquid levels.
How are the float switches installed?
Installation involves securing the float switch to the designated tank or vessel, ensuring the float can move freely along the sliding tube.
Expert Advice: Ensure proper alignment of the float switch during installation to guarantee accurate level monitoring.
