Insulation Sleevings

Insulation Sleevings are an extremely high temperature resistant sleeve commonly used as thermal protection for wires, cables and hoses that are subjected to continuous and extreme high temperature environments, such as engine manifolds and exhaust systems.

Insulation Sleevings are braided from fiberglass, silica, ceramic or calcium-silicate yarns and usually saturated with high temperature resins that improve the product's stability and minimize irritating dusting during cutting and installation. The insulation sleevings are tough and durable, maintaining its tight structure under extreme vibration, abrasion, mechanical stress and temperature variations.

Insulation sleevings are available in a wide range of diameters. They can be cut cleanly with scissors and installed easily over a variety of applications to either deflect or retain heat in environments up to 1,300°C.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

What are the key properties of Insulation Sleevings?

Insulation Sleevings are designed to withstand extreme temperatures, typically ranging from approximately 350 °C to 1,000 °C. They are braided from materials such as fiberglass, silica, ceramic, or calcium-silicate yarns, and are often saturated with high-temperature resins. These properties enhance the sleeves' stability and reduce dust during handling, making them ideal for applications in high-temperature environments like engine manifolds and exhaust systems.

How do I choose the right type of insulation sleeve for my application?

Choosing the right insulation sleeve depends on factors such as the specific temperature range of your application, the level of flexibility required, and the environment in which the sleeves will be used. For instance, if your application involves high-temperature environments, you may opt for Insulation Sleeves, while for applications that require lightweight and non-flammable characteristics, Nomex Braided Sleeving may be more suitable.

Can Insulation Sleevings be used in automotive applications?

Yes, Insulation Sleevings are widely used in automotive applications due to their high-temperature resistance and protective qualities. They provide thermal protection for wires, cables, and hoses that are subjected to extreme heat, such as those found near engine manifolds and exhaust systems. For specific automotive applications, you might consider Silica Sleeves for their excellent thermal properties.
