Novapress® 880 Gasket sheets

The soft gasket sheet NOVAPRESS® 880 is a sealing material based on aramid fibers and provided with special functional fillers and a PTFE non-stick coating. The binder used here is an NBR rubber mixture.

Compared to standard fiber gaskets, the new gasket product novapress 880 offers three times greater adaptability. This enables safe TA Luft models in accordance with VDI 2290 and with enhanced assembly safety to be used with the gasket material.

Gasket products must fulfill the greatest legal demands, which is why they are described even with small surface pressure by extremely excellent leakage efficiency. However, in practical application, the design constraints imposed on surface pressure in uniform flange links render it harder to meet the statutory binding requirements.

This is particularly valid in chemical industry apps where aggressive media that are applicable to TA Luft (German Clean Air Act) need to be transmitted.

Leakage output due to compression of 18 percent

The new gasket material resolves this dispute with considerably greater adaptability. With approx. compression of 18 percent, the material provides yields approximately three times that of commercially accessible alternatives and can thus compensate for flange irregularities even with small surface pressure.

The sealing material has a high adaptability and requires only a low surface pressure, it offers as well and Gasket Code Technology (full gasket traceability and transparency).

Twenty distinct elastomer-bonded parts are used to manufacture this gasket sheet  in a high-pressure calendering method. The gasket sheet material blend is constructed layer by layer. Ultimately, the production method results in a homogeneous item – a prerequisite for effective performance of leakage.

A manufacturing control system is accountable for process accuracy; in the manufacturing of novapress 880 gasket plates, Frenzelit utilizes this same scheme. It ensures coherent performance while maintaining full formulation management, control and tracking, blending method, and calendering method.
