Silicone O-rings
Physically, Silicone O-rings are based on silicon, an element derived from quartz. Silicone O-rings have excellent heat, ozone and corona resistance, are very well dielectric stability. Silicone O-rings are resistant to many oils, chemicals, and solvents. The silicone O-rings possess the best flexible property at low temperatures, but it also have some weakness like low tensile strength, poor tear strength and wear resistance.
Service Temperature: Silicone O-rings work in service temperatures from -60 C to 225 C. Some special types silicone O-rings can be used in extreme temperature up to 300 C and down to -100 C.
Hardness: 25 to 90 Shore A are available.
Color: Black, brown, green, white, rust, yellow, blue, red, orange, transparent and gray are available, or any assigned color from customers.
Application: Silicone O-rings perform well under environmental and temperature extremes. They are usually applied in automotive and aerospace industries where flexibility and longevity are important. Silicone O-rings also have outstanding electrical insulating properties where applying strict performance standards are critical. The silicone O-ring is also a suitable for parts that need FDA approval for food handling equipment and appliances.

What are the differences between 40 Shore A, 50 Shore A, and 60 Shore A silicone O-rings?
The primary difference among 40 Shore A, 50 Shore A, and 60 Shore A silicone O-rings lies in their hardness and flexibility. The O-rings Silicone - 40 Shore A option provides a softer seal, which can be beneficial in applications requiring a tighter fit. In contrast, the O-rings Silicone - 50 Shore A - FDA provides a balance of flexibility and resistance to deformation, while the O-rings Silicone - 60 Shore A - FDA is the hardest, offering the most durability against compression set and is suitable for high-pressure applications.
Can silicone O-rings be used in food applications?
Yes, certain silicone O-rings are compliant with FDA regulations, making them suitable for food contact applications. The O-rings Silicone - 50 Shore A - FDA and O-rings Silicone - 60 Shore A - FDA meet these standards, ensuring they do not release harmful substances into food products. Always verify the specific material certification for compliance with your application requirements.
