FVMQ Silicone O-rings
Fluorosilicone is like silicone rubber, bonding trifluoropropyl, methyl, and vinyl as side chains. The mechanical and physical properties are similar to VMQ.
However, FVMQ offers improved fuel and mineral oil resistance. In some fuels and oils; however, the high temperature limit in the fluid list is more conservative because fluid temperatures approaching 200°C may degrade the fluid, producing acids which attack fluorosilicone O-rings.
Fluorosilicone O-rings combine the good high- and low-temperature properties of silicone with limited fuel and oil resistance. Due to relatively low tear strength, high friction and limited abrasion resistance of these materials, the FVMQ O-rings are generally recommended for static applications only.
Service Temperature: For FVMQ the Service Temperatures are from -60 C to 177 C. In dry heat, the serviceable temperature range can extend to 232 C.
Hardness: 45 to 80 Shore A are available.
Color: Yellow & blue are available, or any assigned Color from customers.
Application
FVMQ offers excellent low-temperature flexibility and good for fuel and aromatic mineral oil. It is usually applied in contact with jet and automotive fuels, most solvents, or engine oil, especially in the aerospace industry. Featuring good compression set and resilience properties, fluorosilicone compounds are suitable for exposure to air, sunlight, ozone, chlorinated and aromatic hydrocarbons.
O-rings FVMQ
O-rings FVMQ / Fluorosilicone Fluorosilicone (FVMQ) o-rings and seals were developed to work in mineral oils and fuel oils at elevated temperatures. FVMQ seals and o-rings are available in a wide variety of standard and custom shapes and sizes. The fluorosilicone O-rings have very good low-temperature resiliency and are offered in hardness between 70 and 80 Shore A. Most commonly the FVMQ O-rings are offered in blue or yellow color. What are the key advantages of using FVMQ Silicone O-rings?
The FVMQ Silicone O-rings offer exceptional resistance to extreme temperatures, making them suitable for applications ranging from -60°C to +200°C. Additionally, they provide excellent chemical resistance, particularly against fuels, oils, and solvents, which enhances their durability and longevity in harsh environments.
How do FVMQ O-rings compare to standard silicone O-rings in terms of performance?
Unlike standard silicone O-rings, FVMQ O-rings are formulated with fluorinated compounds, granting them superior resilience against aggressive chemicals and higher temperature ranges. This specialization allows them to maintain their integrity and sealing capabilities even in more demanding applications.
What industries typically utilize FVMQ Silicone O-rings?
FVMQ Silicone O-rings are widely used in industries such as aerospace, automotive, and oil & gas due to their robust sealing properties. Their ability to withstand harsh conditions makes them ideal for applications involving fuel systems, hydraulic systems, and other critical components where reliability is paramount.
