Polyethylene terephthalate / PET

PET

- the most slippery and durable plastic that can withstand high loads in comparison with all other engineering and standard polymers.

Due to its high hardness, stiffness, strength, good toughness and high fatigue limit PET is widely used to replace metals in those places where it is impossible to use lubrication in a "dry friction", and to facilitate the construction and reduce the cost. PET sheetings and rods stand up to +110°C and shortly up to +170°C.

In tribological systems with moderate temperatures PET sheetings and rods replace with success Polyamides, Polyacetal with a significant increase in service life.

PET is resistant to cracking, has a very low, nearly zero, water absorption and excellent electrical insulating properties. Therefore it is used for production of precision parts, components employed in cold water, as well as for the manufacture of insulating components for electrical engineering and electronics.

PET sheetings and rods have good chemical resistance to petrol, oils, greases, alcohols, ethers, weak acids and bases, but not resistant to solvents, ketones, strong acids and alkalis.

Polyethylene Terephthalate / PET sheets

In its molecular structure, Polyethylene Terephthalate (PET) sheets are available either as an amorphous or semi-crystalline thermoplastic. Whereas the amorphous type is highly transparent and has a lower mechanical strength, as well as substantially inferior sliding characteristics than the semi-crystalline type, semi-crystalline types have higher..
